District Governor’s Visit to Rwanda: Growing Communities, Strengthening Rotary

Every year, the Rotary District 9150 District Governor visits Rotary Clubs across the District to strengthen fellowship, encourage service, and connect with Rotarians, Rotaractors, community leaders, and partners.

During the 2025–2026 Rotary year, District Governor Rtn. Claude visited Rwanda, and for nothern and western province, the visit bringing together the Rotary Club of Musanze Murera and the Rotary Club of Kivu Lake Rwanda for a joint community service activity in Nyamyumba Sector, Rubavu District.

Planting 2,000 Fruit Trees for a Greener Rwanda

As part of the visit, the two Rotary Clubs joined hands with local organizations and community partners in an impactful UMUGANDA community service activity.

Together, participants donated and planted 2,000 edible fruit trees in Nyamyumba Sector.

The initiative was designed not only to contribute to environmental conservation but also to support food security, nutrition, and community resilience. The fruit trees will provide long-term benefits to local communities while contributing to a greener and more sustainable Rwanda.

The activity brought together a wide range of leaders and partners, including the Mayor of Rubavu District, the Minister of Industry and Commerce of Rwanda, a Commonwealth representative, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom, and representatives of Bralirwa, alongside Rotarians, Rotaractors, local organizations, and community members.

The collaboration demonstrated the power of partnership and collective action in addressing community and environmental challenges.

Strengthening Rotary Fellowship and Leadership

Following the tree-planting activity, District Governor Claude, accompanied by Assistant Governors Carole and Assuman and Past District Governor Edgar, met with Rotarians and Rotaractors from:

  • Rotary Club of Musanze
  • Rotary Club of Musanze Murera
  • Rotaract Club of CAVEM

The gathering provided an opportunity to share experiences, celebrate achievements, strengthen fellowship, and discuss the continued growth of Rotary and Rotaract in Rwanda.

A special moment of the gathering was the official pinning of members of Satellite Club RC IMISOZI1000, which is working toward becoming a fully chartered Rotary Club in the future.

The pinning marked an important milestone in the development of new Rotary leadership and the expansion of Rotary's service network in Rwanda.

Celebrating Four Years of Rotary Club of Kivu Lake

United Through Service

The District Governor's visit was a strong demonstration of the Rotary spirit of Service Above Self. By bringing together Rotary Clubs, Rotaractors, government leaders, private-sector partners, community organizations, and local communities, the initiative showed what can be achieved when people work together toward a shared purpose.

From planting trees that will benefit future generations to strengthening Rotary leadership and fellowship, the visit created lasting connections and meaningful community impact.

Together, we grow communities, protect our planet, strengthen fellowship, and create hope for generations to come.
